Fredy Bermeo’s family has been in coffee production for as long as he can remember. He started growing coffee himself in 2003 when he inherited 5 hectares of land from his father. In 2011, Fredy started to focus more closely on quality and production practices.

Fredy’s close attention to detail and desire to improve quality has helped him make great strides into the specialty coffee industry. In 2017 Fredy placed 3rd in the Peru Cup of Excellence with a Caturra lot. In 2018 he also entered the Peru COE, where he placed 10th with a Caturra/Bourbon lot.

In October, Caravela Director of Global Quality, Fernando Gomez was a member of the international jury for the Peru Cup of Excellence. Fernando spent an entire week cupping outstanding coffees that had been submitted from throughout Peru.

Round after round, one lot consistently was a top scorer for Fernando.  The coffee from Fredy Bermeo Guevara finished #10 in the competition, but ranked #1 for Caravela in cup complexity and consistency across multiple tables. We liked this coffee so much that we brought it up to offer it to you, and it is now available at Continental Terminals in NJ.
